Alan Gilbert has more than 25 years of professional experience working exclusively in the telecom, high-tech, and communications industries.
He spent the first half of career spent on the technical side of the house leading systems engineering and software development efforts, ultimately resulting in responsibility for oversight of 35-person network management organization.
Second half of his career was spent on the business side of the house, leading public relations, marketing, and strategic alliances efforts in corporate roles, and providing public relations account strategy, media/analyst relations and content development services in agency roles.
His career objective is to provide telecom/wireless/broadband companies with outstanding public relations support and value, from account management and strategic development to development of thought leadership content and delivering tactical media/analyst relations results.
Prior to Calysto, Alan served as Vice President of Crawford Public Relations, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at GuideComm, and Director of Marketing at Stanford Telecom.
He has experience working with communications companies/organizations such as NYNEX, Verizon Business, XO Communications, Nextlink Communications, Tellabs, NextPoint, Spotwave, Spirent, Stanford Telecom, Telecommunications Industry Association, Cramer Systems, Convergys, Spotwave, Association for Competition in Telecom, and GuideComm.
Alan has developed and cultivated relationships throughout the media and analyst communities dating back to the late 1990’s, particularly in the areas of OSS/BSS and wireless. Secured coverage in local, national, and trade publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Business Week, USA Today, The Washington Post, RCR, Wireless Week, FierceWireless, Telephony/Connected Planet, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, Billing World & OSS Today, Computerworld, Network World, NGN, Light Reading, Lightwave, and many more.
He has led winning proposal development efforts on the technical and business sides of the house resulting in contracts worth tens of millions of dollars; have also developed numerous winning awards submissions in-house and for clients.
Alan brings a unique combination of technical acumen, strategic thinking, and communications skills to every engagement. Have played integral role on deployments of groundbreaking technologies such as navigation systems, satellite radio, wireless broadband, and femtocells in corporate and agency environments.
He supported Cramer Systems as a client for nearly 4 years, taking them from North America launch and relative unknown outside of UK to global entity acquired by Amdocs for nearly $400 million; played key role in final product launch that directly led to acquisition decision. Alan also served as account manager for NextPoint for the year leading up to their acquisition by Genband, including establishing the NextPoint brand immediately after prior merger.
